Chelsea’s Marc Guiu Set for Loan Move Amid Intense Competition

Young Chelsea striker Marc Guiu is likely to head out on loan next season, with the club recognizing the stiff competition for places in attack, according to reports.

The 19-year-old joined the Blues last summer from Barcelona for just €6 million, after the club triggered his low release clause. While Guiu struggled for game time in the Premier League—making only three appearances—he made his mark in Europe, scoring six goals in seven Conference League matches, including a memorable hat-trick against Shamrock Rovers.

Injuries sidelined him for much of the second half of the season, but he returned in time to come off the bench in the Conference League final. He’s also part of Chelsea’s current Club World Cup squad and has made two substitute appearances during the tournament in the U.S.

Despite these flashes of potential, it’s become clear that regular first-team minutes at Chelsea will be hard to come by. As reported by The Telegraph, the plan is for Guiu to go on loan to aid his development.

Ipswich Town are among the clubs showing interest, and a move to Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg could also be on the cards. However, with only one loan spot left at the French side—where Kendry Páez and Mathis Amougou are already heading—Chelsea might reserve that place for promising goalkeeper Mike Penders.

Either way, Guiu is unlikely to be short of options this summer as he looks for consistent playing time to continue his growth.
